The Duluth Transit Authority is implementing a series of changes March 7 to fares aimed at reducing costs for riders.
The changes were approved and announced by the DTA board of directors in January:
- The reduction of a single-day bus pass with unlimited rides on a specific day to $3, down from $4.
- The reduction of a seven-day bus pass with unlimited rides during that period from $17 to $15.
- The reduction of a 31-day youth bus pass from $37.50 to $30.
- The discontinuation of pennies being accepted in its fareboxes.
- Discontinuation of the sale of 90-, 180- and 360-day pass formats (the 90-day summer youth pass for ages 5-19 will still be available).
Additionally, in conjunction with fare changes, the DTA has programmed the following trip changes to take place March 7:
- Route 5: Added one weekday trip from the Miller Hill Mall to the west, departing Super One at 7:01 p.m., and arriving in the Gary-New Duluth neighborhood at 7:50 p.m.
- Route 7: Added one outbound weekday trip departing the Duluth Transportation Center downtown at 9:40 p.m., and arriving in Lakeside at 10:11 p.m. Added one inbound trip, departing Lakeside at 10:30 p.m. and arriving downtown at 10:52 p.m.
- Route 11K: Dropped last inbound trip weekdays. Last 11K inbound will depart Kenwood at 11:26 p.m., and arrive downtown at 11:55 p.m.
