The Duluth Transit Authority is restoring several routes and trips to a more traditional summer service schedule starting Sunday, July 19. The DTA has been offering a more limited service due to COVID-19 conditions.
Here are the route changes starting July 19, according to a DTA news release:
Returning routes include routes 4, 5, 15 and 25 (the “DuLooper”).
The Port Town Trolly will remain paused at this time.
Late-night service provided before the COVID-19 pandemic will also be restored, which includes several routes.
The Duluth Transportation Center will return to normal operating hours: 5 a.m.-1 a.m. Monday to Friday, 6 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
The pilot project Route 24, with service to the Great Lakes Aquarium and waterfront, will no longer be offered.
The DTA is also launching 10 new Gillig low-floor buses, three of which are green and featured on the DuLooper downtown circular route.
Also effective July 19, the DTA will eliminate the two single-direction bus stops located in the parking lot at the Miller Hill Target. The stops will be replaced with one bi-directional stop along Maple Grove Road near the Target entrance. This stop will serve passengers heading both from downtown and to downtown.
The change has been implemented to increase safety and reduce conflicts with pedestrians and vehicles in the parking lot.
The DTA still strongly encourages passengers to wear masks on buses and in the facilities.
