Dr. Kelly Aarsvold, a pediatric cardiologist, is welcoming new patients at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic.
“Essentia’s values and vision resonate with many of my own, and the success of the organization speaks to the outstanding care provided by the people who work here,” said Dr. Aarsvold, who grew up in Minnesota and attended medical school in Duluth. “It was really the wonderful people I met when I came to visit that drew me in.”
Dr. Aarsvold earned a medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in Minneapolis and completed a residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, as well as a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Internal Medicine.
“I chose pediatric cardiology for two main reasons. The first is the ability to develop lifelong relationships with patients and families starting at an early age. If they do not need lifelong care and only see me once, I have the opportunity to tell them they have a child with a healthy heart. It is an incredibly rewarding field,” Dr. Aarsvold explained. “The second reason is no two hearts are the same and there are vast differences even within the same type of congenital heart disease. It is a fascinating field and one I am lucky to be a part of.”
