Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Miller Hill Mall to close

The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in Duluth’s Miller Hill Mall will close later this month.

In a news release Monday, candy shop owner Debbie Bolen said the location will close Jan. 15 “after 16 successful years.” Last year, however, was “so difficult for business.”

But the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory location in Canal Park — one of the company’s top-five stores in the country, according to Bolen — will remain open.

“We have decided to consolidate our mall store into that location to meet demand,” Bolen said.

The Canal Park store, which makes homemade fudge, caramel apples and gourmet chocolates, has been open since 2001.
