David Ross sent an announcement to members of the Duluth Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday notifying them of his plans to step down as president and CEO of the organization Aug. 4, his 65th birthday.
“It has been a remarkable privilege and a joy” to serve 24 years in his leadership role, he said in the announcement.
“I have been energized by the challenge of advocating on your behalf as you have brought jobs, investment and opportunity to our beloved Zenith City. I am filled with gratitude for having experienced working with you for such a long and rewarding time,” Ross wrote.
Ross pledged to work with newly elected Chamber Board Chair Karen Stromme and the board of directors “in preparing for a seamless transition to the Chamber’s next generation of leadership.”
“Thank you for allowing me the honor of standing with you, shoulder to shoulder, in solidarity, as we advocated together on behalf of our business community,” Ross said.
