As more people receive the COVID-19 vaccination, employees are beginning to return to their workplaces in person. But some — particularly employees of color — are concerned about returning to more frequent microaggressions.
Microaggressions are subtle and oftentimes unintentional interactions that communicate some sort of bias, racism or sexism, such as mistaking two different people of the same race.
At 11 a.m. Friday, host Angela Davis will speak with a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) expert and a business administration professor about how the return to in-person workplaces might also mean a return to the microaggresions employees experience.
We also want to hear from you. If you’ve been working remotely, how do you feel about going back to your workplace and interacting with your colleagues in person? Are you worried about saying or doing something that could be hurtful or offensive? Or are you dreading once again being on the receiving end of microaggressions? Give us a call at 651-227-6000 or 800-242-2828 during the 11 a.m. hour or tweet @AngelaDavisMPR to join the conversation.
Guests:
Audrey Murrell is a professor of business administration, psychology and public and international affairs at the University of Pittsburgh
Angela Myles is the vice president of racial justice at YWCA Minneapolis
