Ariana Ferguson, who resides with her parents and siblings in a rental unit assisted by the Duluth Housing & Redevelopment Authority (HRA), has been selected as a winner of a $1,000 Post-Secondary Educational Scholarship award by the Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Housing & Redevelopment Officials (Minnesota NAHRO). Minnesota NAHRO provides a limited number of awards each year under a state-wide competitive process. Nominations for the awards are made by Minnesota NAHRO member agencies and the nominees must be residents of a member’s publicly owed housing or a participant in a rental assistance program administered by a member agency. The Duluth HRA nominated Ariana Ferguson for the award and was recently notified of her selection. Ariana was also subsequently awarded an additional $1,000 by the 8-state North Central Regional Council of NAHRO, along with an additional $2,000 from National NAHRO. Ariana graduated first in her class at Denfeld High School and will be attending Northwestern University this fall where she plans to major in Biology, Pre-Med, or Dance.
