Dr. Efstratios Travlos, who specializes in elder care, is welcoming new patients at the Essentia Health-Duluth Clinic in Duluth.
“I chose to join Essentia Health because it serves rural communities,” Dr. Travlos said. “As a physician, I always desire to serve the most in need. My mission is to improve the quality of life of the frail, making a difference in their lives and in their families’ lives, as well.”
Dr. Travlos earned a medical degree from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Modena, Italy. He did his residency at James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, N.Y., focusing on internal medicine, and completed a fellowship in geriatric medicine at the Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
“During my career as a physician I decided to dedicate myself to the elderly,” Dr. Travlos said. “I was always interested in studying and treating complex geriatric syndromes, reducing the risks associated with frailty and studying and treating dementia.”
He added that because each patient, and each patient’s family, have different goals and beliefs, it’s important to develop strong patient-physician relationships.
