Patty Mester, General Manager of WDSE•WRPT, was recently named president of the Minnesota Public Television Association (MPTA). The MPTA is a coalition of Minnesota’s six independent public television stations.
Each station’s focus is on the individual communities they serve; however, the MPTA also works together to provide all Minnesotans with quality programing that is vital to all Minnesotans by telling vibrant and compelling stories from every corner of the state. This is done through group-supported initiatives and shared programming on multiple platforms, including a mutually supported broadcast channel, the Minnesota Channel. The MPTA’s current initiative is MOVING LIVES MINNESOTA, which explores the histories of the many communities within Minnesota and the individuals who have moved through and to the state.
“Public television is a valuable resource to our communities statewide,” said Mester, “With the MPTA working together, we are able to deepen our community relationships, further our outreach and engagement which, ultimately, provides better programming for all of our viewers. I am pleased, and fortunate, to work with this remarkable team. We come together to network, learn from one another and share efficiencies.”
