Abdallah Candies has opened a new, larger manufacturing facility and retail store in Apple Valley, Minn. The 75,000-square-foot facility could eventually grow to double that size. Abdallah outgrew its current space in Burnsville, Minn., and began looking for a new facility in 2013. The company had to take its production offline for nearly two months, so it is now scrambling to catch up with Valentine’s Day orders.
CEO Steve Hegedus said that even though almost all of the company’s sales are through wholesale, having a retail store was a key factor for the new site. He noted that having retail customers come to the store gives them a sort of focus group for feedback that translates into its wholesale business, reports Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
