Wrecktangle Pizza, Jeff Roger’s wildly popular pizza place with the thick edge of crispity crust will be one of the vendors inside Malcolm Yards Market in Prospect Park. This will be the second location of the eatery. The slow-to-build food hall has been in the works for years, but is only just now sharing who will be serving food inside.
Wrecktangle Pizza, which first opened pre-pandemic inside Galley North Loop is just one of several food businesses to land inside the address. Other stands set to open inside include an outpost for the popular Del Sur Empandas, and Joey Meatballs from former Giulia chef Josh Hedquist.
Malcolm Yards expect to open this spring.
While the French Hen takes a pause on Selby Avenue, Viva Cubano is borrowing the kitchen and delivering sandwiches to the neighborhood Thursday through Sunday from 4 to 9pm. The restaurant is the work of AJ and Jenny Louismet. AJ is familiar face in the area. He was a longtime server and bartender at the now-shuttered Muddy Pig.
In addition to the cubano, made with carnitas, there are other sandwiches like a black bean torta, croque monsieur, and more.
James Beard Award winning chef Ann Kim’s newest restaurant, Sooki & Mimi will open Wednesday with a mostly Mexican menu with a few of her signature genera bending additions, including nods to her Korean heritage. Reservations are available either for dinner or a cocktail experience, that does not include the opportunity for food. Restaurant hours will be Wednesday through Sunday, for dinner.
The restaurant space left vacant by the closure of Octo Fishbar will soon become a Brazilian steakhouse. Bullvino’s Churrascaria will open, the second outpost with the original location in Maple Grove. The menu will feature grilled skewers of meat served table side. The restaurant layout is getting a bit of a makeover and a giant salad bar will be installed. The owners are aiming for a March opening.
Chefs Tyge Nelson and Stephan Hesse Pajarito
The ownership team behind Pajarito in St. Paul and Edina, have purchased all of the Lucky 13 pub locations. The team includes chefs Tyge Nelson, Stephan Hesse, and third partner Charlie Burrows. Burrows used to own those restaurants and the purchase is a homecoming of sorts. The purchase additionally includes the old Rudy’s Red Eye Grill in Rosemount which will become The Clover, Eagan’s Yankee Tavern, and Me & Julio in Hastings.
