The holiday season is just around the corner. Time to stuff ourselves silly and seek comfort in every safe way imaginable. These wintery beverages go well beyond Pumpkin Spice lattes at the mall. Restaurants with heated patios, distilleries and coffee shops all join in on the fun with these festive concoctions.
Miracle at Lawless has been a holiday tradition since 2017, when festive kitsch explodes all over the usually spartan space. Sister distillery Stillheart opened in downtown Minneapolis in February, but then, 2020. To keep spirits high this season, both locations will offer cocktail kits from Miracle past, ready to drink mixes and seven gift sets, some of which even include the popular Santa pants mugs.
Festive cocktail kits abound at the Minneapolis bistro, including Vendemmia Kits- Italian style mulled wine kits which will rotate wines depending for the upcoming holidays. The Thanksgiving kit may even include a bit of pumpkin spice.
The newest cocktail room in town is a cozy spot to lull away winter nights. Feeling posh? Skaalvenn is serving Hot hot hothothot! Toddy in a lovely teacup with bourbon, ginger, chamomile, lemon, honey, almond orgeat cream foam and finished with nutmeg and lemon expression. If that doesn’t cure the 2020 blues nothing will.
Coffee and candy? Here for it. Café Astoria is known for its beautiful creations and the seasonal Candy Cane Latte is no exception. The maple spice latte is topped with a candy cane and gold leaf for a bit of whimsy.
The Payne Avenue coffee shop is bringing back a winter favorite on Black Friday. The Icarus Lives combines cold brew, eggnog, cinnamon, turmeric, house-whipped cream and fresh mint. Grab it to go for on-line shopping energy boost.

Dampfwerk Distillery
This St. Louis Park distillery has added Peppermint Schnapps to its lineup and it’s way better than anything tucked into our grandparents’ freezers. A shot is bracing, minty, but also imparts a creamy mouthfeel roundness that makes this perfect for nipping into straight up. Look for it at high-quality local liquor stores. The distillery has two Pfefferminz3 cocktails mixed drinks on site.
