Revival Smoked Meats and Mr. Paul’s Po’ Boys and Jams are joining the food hall game
Two Southern-style kitchens are slated to open at Malcolm Yards food hall in January of 2024: Revival Smoked Meats, a barbecue operation from chef Thomas Boemer and Nick Rancone, and Mr. Paul’s Po’ Boys and Jams, a sandwich shop spin-off from Mr. Paul’s Supper Club.
From Revival, expect Carolina-style barbecue reimagined in fun, snacky ways, like burnt-end burritos and smoked chicken wings. Mr. Paul’s focus, true to its name, will be po’ boys heaped with fried shrimp and crawfish, plus other New Orleans-style fare like gumbo, boudin balls, slushies, and mini “dough-nets,” a doughnut-beignet hybrid. Chef Tommy Begnaud has so far been running his Po’ Boys and Jams operation out of the back of Mr. Paul’s Supper Club in Edina; the Malcolm Yards kitchen will be its second location.
Malcolm Yards has seen some vendor turnover in the past few months: In August, Advellum Vegetable Eatery left the food hall to pursue a brick-and-mortar location, and Bagu, a Japanese kitchen, replaced Joey Meatballs. Martes Tacos opened shortly after Labor Day. Revival Smoked Meats and Mr. Paul’s join existing vendors Abang Yoli, Bebe Zito, Del Sur, Momo Dosa, and Wrecktangle Pizza for a total lineup of nine kitchens.
