Despite the Governor Walz loosening indoor dining restrictions, several restaurants have still decided to close before the cold weather descends. Some, are seasonal restaurant that were expected to shutter for the season, others won’t be returning. These are the restaurants that have made the decision to close.
The little bakery outpost had opened with grand plans to serve everything from early morning coffee to dinner desserts. Unfortunately, food halls in general have swiftly gone from the peak of popular dining to one more style of business struggling during the pandemic. Honey & Rye’s stand will close on October 31, so there is still time to get in for coffee and treats. After that, go visit the original bakery, where the sourdough and pie are just as good as ever.
The inside the city outpost at the Market House Collaborative will also close on October 17. The upstairs/downstairs spot had a killer piano bar that had been busy just about every night of the week. Now that the music has ceased, the location hasn’t been the same. Birch’s on the Lake in the west metro will continue to operate.

Carrie Summer and Lisa Carlson are closing their road trip worthy Bay City, Wisconsin restaurant just a bit early for this season. On November 1 the chefs, who have been running their fabulous food truck and restaurant seasonally since the beginning, will take a break. The final tasting menu is available on October 30 and 31. The drive-in home of the pizza burger is locking up for the season on October 30. This has been the retro restaurant’s 69th season. Raising a fountain pop cup to many more.
The final date for the Surly taproom continues to approach and there will be no union. The effort to unionize for the front of house staff fell short, according to the union’s count, by just one vote. The taproom at the massive brewery will close on November 2.
