Specialty, high-quality and locally-owned food businesses are growing within the food industry. From City Girl Coffee to T-Rex Cookie to St. Paul Bagelry, these specialty food companies are finding a home in Minnesota. Dozens of food startups have launched in the Twin Cities in recent years. Not all make it, and some get acquired by larger food makers like General Mills, but the innovative hub is proving to be a successful one for many of the businesses.
“Some of the bigger food companies have started business accelerators to help smaller companies grow. And we work with organizations such as Greater MSP and the state departments of agriculture and economic development. They want to see Minnesota small-food companies grow,” says Chad Gillard, founder of Midwest Pantry, reports Minneapolis Star Tribune. Full Story
