The Original Cakerie restructured its business under a holding company known as Dessert Holdings. Based in St. Paul, MN, Dessert Holdings will allow a shared services model and integrated selling organization between The Original Cakerie and Lawler Foods, a Humble, Texas-based manufacturer of gourmet cheesecakes, layer cakes, pies and other desserts.
The restructuring also involves leadership changes. Paul J. Lapadat was named CEO of Dessert Holdings, Chris W. Rogers was named CFO of Dessert Holdings, and Doris Bitz will become president of The Original Cakerie.
The Original Cakerie was founded in 1979 in Delta, British Columbia, and has a second production facility in London, Ontario. Together with Lawler, the companies serve more than 200 customers in Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Europe. Both The Original Cakerie and Lawler Foods are portfolio companies of San Francisco-based Gryphon Investors. Both will remain standalone, independent operating companies with their own brands, and their manufacturing operations will remain in Delta, London, and the Houston area.
